Check-in

  • All anglers must check in at the tournament to receive their angler cards and participant wristbands by 8am at the Kestrel Pavilion at Eagle Island State Park, Eagle, ID on May 11th, 2019.  See Map for Kestrel Pavilion’s location below.

  • Late check-ins: Anglers who are late or register the day of are welcome to participate, but must agree that it is their sole responsibility to read and understand the official rules and waiver, and understand that the tournament will end promptly at 12:30pm and bank space will be obtained on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tournament Rules

  • Disqualification: Disqualification for any reason will result in forfeiture of all entry and optional fees.

  • Fish: Due to fairness in length measurement, only trout will qualify to win prizes.

  • Pole Limit: Each angler may only fish with 1 pole at a time. Angler may bring 2 poles to the bank with them. The use of 2 poles at one time will result in disqualification.

  • Idaho law requires that all anglers posses a fishing license during the tournament (unless under the age of 14). Daily licenses are available as well. See https://idfg.idaho.gov/licenses to purchase online.

  • Idaho Fish and Game will be on site to sell licenses as well.

Scoring

  • This is a catch and release tournament. Trout less than 15cm will not qualify for the contest. Each fish caught by an angler will be measured by a tournament official who will fill out the angler's fish card with the size (in centimeters) of the fish and ensure its release back into the water. Any anglers who fail to release (unhook) trout back into the water will be disqualified.

  • Fishing Locations: Bank fishing ONLY. There will be 12 sections at Eagle Island State Park with 1-2 tournament officials for each bank section. Anglers MUST NOT fish near or cast into the designated swimming area of the pond or they will be disqualified. See map below for locations.

Prize Determination

  • Most Fish Caught: Cash Prizes will be awarded to Adults and Children less than 18 years old who catch the most fish in the day. Prize amounts may increase depending on participation, but will never drop below the following:

    • Adults: 1st place = $500, 2nd = $250, 3rd = $100

    • Children: 1st place = $500, 2nd = $250, 3rd = $100

  • Biggest Fish of the Day: Angler who catches the Biggest fish (in centimeters) for the day will win one of three BIG Prizes. Angler will draw Envelopes for one of three prizes:

    • 5 envelopes will contain the $10,000 prize symbol

    • 17 envelopes will contain the symbol for the Hydrus Paddleboard

    • 18 envelopes will contain the symbol for the Cody Murray fishing trip

    • Contestant draws envelopes until they have 5 matching prize symbols for the prizes listed above

    • Prize winners will be determined at the awards ceremony in the Kestrel Pavilion at 1:30pm. Winners do not need to be present to win, but must turn in their angler card to a tournament official upon departure from the tournament

Tie Breakers

  • Tie Breakers for the Most Fish Caught: If there is a tie for the most trout caught, we will add up the top 3 biggest (by length in centimeters) trout on anglers’ fish cards to determine a winner. If a tie remains, all trout lengths entered on their card will be added and the angler with the most centimeters worth of trout will win. If a tie ensues, anglers will share the purse evenly for the tie (e.g. if two anglers tie for first, they will split the 1st and 2nd place purse money evenly between them. If two anglers get 3rd place, they will split the 3rd place prize evenly. 3+-way ties will split purse evenly as well.)

  • Tie Breakers for the Biggest Fish event:

    • The next biggest trout on each angler's card will be added to the size of their biggest trout (in centimeters) until tie breaker is made. This process will continue until winner is found (If angler runs out of caught fish on their card, that counts as 0cm measurement).

  • If there is still a tie, a coin toss may be used to determine a winner

Raffle

  • Raffle Prizes will be drawn at noon. Tickets can be purchased for $3 each at the Registration Desk near the Kestrel Pavilion throughout the day. Winners will be posted at the Kestrel Pavilion, which is also where prizes can be picked up. If you are not present, you will be contacted after the derby to redeem your prize

Protests

  • Protests: Protests must be made to the Derby Director within 15min of the tournament end (12:30pm). Decisions of the Derby Director are final.

Business and Rotary Club Teams Prize

  • Business Team Trophy: Businesses may form teams of three anglers to compete with other business for a 2019 Fishing Derby Trophy to show off at the office. Prize will be based on most fish caught by a team. Tie breakers will be same as tie breakers for the Most Fish Caught. A coin toss may be used to determine winner in the event of perpetual tie breakers.

  • Rotary Club Trophy: Rotary Club Teams may form teams of three Rotarian anglers to compete with other Rotary Club teams for the Rotary Club Fishing Derby Trophy and garnish all the bragging rights therein. Prize will be based on most fish caught by a team. Tie breakers will be same as tie breakers for the Most Fish Caught. ABOUT US

Boise Metro Rotary Club

We are committed to making the community and world a better place while having inordinate amounts of fun. The beauty of Rotary is that it's open to people of all cultures, ethnicities, genders and professions, and it's not affiliated with any political or religious organizations. Really.

1.2 million Rotarians in over 34,000 clubs globally practice the ideal of Service Above Self. We are white collar, blue collar, goody two-shoes, deviants, prudes, jokesters, stoics and everything in between, and it's ok because our goal is the same - we must be the good we wish to see in the world. Otherwise that world won't exist.

Proceeds from this event will benefit child-focused local nonprofits, including Everyday Leadership, JEMFriends, Rotary Youth Exchange and Idaho college scholarships.
